Hey list,

We are planning an installfest on February 28 2009, we are still
waiting to hear back on a location but we need you help. We are
looking to put together a few presentations to give to the group that
shows up. We also are looking at setting up some booths that highlight
some business that use open source software and/or some cool open
source projects. The booths that we have right now include a sign-up /
request for more info about BillingsLUG, a sign up for Computers 4
Kids, some of the computers that we are giving away that are running
software demos. What I need from the list is some ideas for more
booths or volunteers to man the booths. I also need some volunteers to
give a prestintaion.

Right now here are some ideas for presentations, these are subject to
change or even deletion if you all have better ideas or something that
you would like to present on.

Here is what we have now:

1. Discuss Free Software Apps (discuss replacement apps) and the OS.
Ways to get support --> come to LUG meeting
                                  --> HowLUG

2. Live CD use: Try Linux without changing your computer
Discuss Ubuntu and other live distros
   What a 'live' disto is
   Demo a Live CD
Discuss install if you like Linux

3. What is FOSS > Open source Windows programs
   Stretch you IT budget
   Show OpenDisc (FOSS Windows Programs)
Disucss the switch to Vista and why switching to Linux may be better option

4. Linux in Enterprise
    Security
    Virtualization
    File Servers
    Mail Servers

5. Giveaway session for free computers w/ Ubuntu install
Discuss install of entertainment software, install DVD, mp3 support
Discuss ways to get support for Linux?

If you have other ideas on what would make this a killer installfest
let me know. Also if you have idea's for some sponsors that would be
nice as well. Let me know!

Thanks,
 _
